Surge is suitable for use with all major types of carpet extraction machines, including diaphragm, centrifugal, and piston pump systems. It restores brightness to light and coloured carpets, making them look near-new.

How to Use Surge for Carpet Cleaning Applications

Surge offers flexibility in use depending on your cleaning method. Below are detailed instructions for spotting, extraction, and pre-spray.

Spot Stain Removal with Surge

• Dilute 1 part Surge to 5 parts water

• Always perform a pre-test in an inconspicuous area with a clean white towel

• Remove excess solids or liquids from the stain before applying solution

• Spray diluted product around the outer edge of the stain

• Gently blot toward the centre with a clean white towel (avoid scrubbing)

• Let sit for 2 minutes, then blot again with a clean, wet towel

• Repeat if needed, and rinse or extract the area to remove any residue

Note: Best results for protein-based, oily stains, and some inks. May not fully remove wine, tannin or soft drink stains.

Extraction Machine Cleaning with Surge

• Vacuum thoroughly and move or protect furniture

• Add Surge directly to machine tank at appropriate dilution:

  • Heavy soil: 1:100 parts water

  • Medium soil: 1:175 parts water

  • Light soil: 1:300 parts water

• Pre-spot any stubborn stains (1:5 dilution)

• Test in a hidden area before proceeding

• Extract the carpet and allow to dry

• Rinse with clean cold water for best results

Using Surge as a Pre-Spray Detergent

• Vacuum the area and protect or move furnishings

• Dilute 1 part Surge to 10–15 parts water

• Pre-test before applying

• Evenly spray onto carpet, avoiding oversaturation

• Allow 3–5 minutes dwell time before extracting

• Do not allow pre-spray to dry

• Extract with cold water and provide airflow to assist drying

Spotting:

Dilute 1 part Surge to 5 parts water.
Pre-test: Apply the solution in an inconspicuous area and cover with a clean white towel. Leave for 5 minutes and check for color transfer. If evidence of color transfer is found, do not proceed.
Blot excess liquid or remove solid soil before cleaning.
Using a trigger spray, apply the diluted solution to the outside edge of the stain without oversaturating the carpet.
Work the product towards the middle of the stain with a clean white towel. Avoid spreading the stain by scrubbing with a sponge.
Leave the product on the stain for 2 minutes.
Blot the treated area with a clean, wet white towel.
Repeat the process until no more soil comes up in the towel.
Always extract or rinse the spotting solution to remove the stain and chemical residues.

Note: Surge generally removes stains of a protein or oil nature and some ink stains. It may not remove old wine, tannin, or soft drink stains, although some may be lightened.

Extraction Machine:

For single-pass hot water extraction, Surge can be added directly to the extraction machine tank.
Vacuum the carpet thoroughly and move furniture or place foil under legs.
Dilute Surge as directed:
Heavy soil: 1:100 parts water
Medium soil: 1:175 parts water
Light soil: 1:300 parts water
Pre-spot heavily soiled areas or stains with Surge diluted 1 part to 5 parts warm water.
Pre-test: Apply the diluted solution in an inconspicuous area and check for color transfer.
Extract the carpets and leave them to dry.
Rinse the treated area with cold water and extract.

Pre-Spray:

For traffic lanes or heavily soiled areas, use Surge as a pre-spray detergent.
Vacuum the carpet thoroughly and move furniture or place foil under legs.
Dilute 1 part Surge to 10-15 parts water.
Pre-test: Apply the diluted solution in an inconspicuous area and check for color transfer.
Pre-spray the carpet, ensuring even wetness without saturation.
Allow the pre-spray to remain on the carpet for 3-5 minutes. Work in manageable areas and avoid letting the pre-spray dry.
Extract with cold water and leave the carpet to dry. If necessary, provide ventilation to reduce drying times.
