Q. How do I choose the correct bin-liner size?
A. Measure the bin opening, depth and height, then compare those measurements with the dimensions published on the product page. Allow enough width to open over the rim and enough length to reach the base with a secure overhang. Litre capacity is only a guide because two bins with the same volume can have different shapes.
Q. What is the difference between HDPE and LDPE bin liners?
A. HDPE liners are typically thinner, crisper and strong in tension, making them efficient for light office, hotel-room and washroom waste. LDPE is softer and more flexible, so it can stretch around heavier or irregular loads more effectively. Material alone does not determine performance; thickness, dimensions, sealing, waste type and handling all matter.
Q. Should I buy heavy-duty or extra-heavy-duty liners?
A. Choose heavy duty for controlled, routine commercial refuse and extra heavy duty where loads are denser, wetter or more irregular. Compare the published micron thickness within the same size: for example, the current 82L options are listed at 26 micron for heavy duty and 38 micron for extra heavy duty. A thicker liner still does not make loose sharps or hazardous waste safe.
Q. Can these black or white liners be used for clinical waste?
A. No. The products in this collection are general-waste liners. Victorian health guidance says clinical waste should be placed in correctly marked biohazard bags, which are currently yellow, and managed through the appropriate licensed waste service. Q. Can needles, blades or other loose sharps go into these liners?
A. No. Loose sharps can puncture a liner and injure cleaners or waste handlers. Place single-use sharps directly into an approved, puncture-resistant sharps container that meets the applicable requirements. Do not recap, bend or carry loose sharps in a garbage bag.
Q. Are these liners suitable for liquid waste?
A. They can contain damp general refuse when correctly selected and handled, but they are not containers for free liquid. Drain or manage liquids through the approved site process, avoid overfilling and inspect the bag before lifting. Double-bagging may help isolate a damaged bag during removal, but it does not replace the correct liner or waste container.
Q. What is the practical difference between black and white tidy liners?
A. Colour primarily affects presentation and how visible the contents are. White liners are often used in guest-facing, office and washroom settings, while black liners conceal waste more completely. Colour does not determine whether a liner is recyclable, clinical, food-safe, compostable or stronger; check the specific material and product specification.
Q. Are the current Huhtamaki liners compostable or suitable for an organics bin?
A. The current products in this collection are described as HDPE or LDPE plastic liners, not certified compostable liners. Do not place them in an organics or food-waste stream unless the receiving council or waste contractor explicitly accepts that liner type. A product must carry the required certification and suit the actual collection system before being promoted as compostable.
Q. Can used plastic bin liners be recycled?
A. Used liners are often contaminated by the waste they contain and are generally disposed of with that waste stream. Clean, unused LDPE or HDPE film may be accepted by some specialist commercial soft-plastic services, but acceptance varies. Confirm the material, cleanliness and local recycler’s rules before collecting it for recycling.
Q. How can cleaners reduce liner splits and lifting injuries?
A. Use the correct dimensions and duty rating, keep sharp or regulated items out of general waste, change the liner before it becomes overfilled and avoid compressing waste by hand. Inspect the bag before lifting, tie it securely and use the site’s manual-handling or trolley procedure for heavy loads. Stop and repackage the waste safely if a liner is leaking or damaged.
Q. Should I order a small pack or a full carton?
A. Start with a smaller available pack when checking fit or trialling a new duty rating. Order the carton once the dimensions and performance are confirmed. The tidy liners are sold in 1000-count cartons, while several 54L to 240L products also offer smaller pack variants for testing or lower-volume sites.
