Agar Wipe Away is a 5Lt hard surface detergent for cutting grease and lifting daily soil.

Description

Grease does not stay where it lands. It creeps up the wall behind a stove, sits as a dull film on tabletops that get wiped twice a day, and turns a shower recess in the staff amenities cloudy long before anyone books a deep clean. Ready to use trigger packs arrive mixed at one strength, which leaves a cleaner either underpowered on the greasy jobs or spending good product on light dust.

Wipe Away is Agar's spray and wipe detergent, made in Australia from a water mix of nonionic and anionic surfactants. It is a general hard surface cleaner rather than a specialist chemical, which is why it turns up on trolleys covering offices, staff amenities and kitchen areas in the same round.

How Wipe Away works on greasy surfaces

The surfactants attack the soilage on contact and release it from the surface instead of pushing it around. On a greasy panel that matters more than scrubbing effort, because the grease has to let go of the surface before any cloth can carry it away.

The practical outcome for a contract cleaner is one less decision on the round, because the chemical suits the run of everyday hard surface work rather than one narrow job. The current safety data sheet and product data sheet both sit on this page, so the site folder and the staff induction are covered before anyone mixes a bottle.

Key Features And Benefits:

One bottle instead of a shelf of trigger packs: A single 5Lt bottle makes up to 200 trigger bottles, so a cleaner running several sites reorders far less often and carries far less plastic between jobs.

Built for grease, not just dust: It attacks and removes oily soilage from hard surfaces, so the jobs that usually send someone back to the van for a second chemical are handled off the one bottle.

The area smells cleaned after you leave: The perfume stays on the surface after wiping, which is often how a client walking through amenities decides whether the round was done properly.

No dangerous goods paperwork for the store room: Wipe Away is not classified as a Dangerous Good under the Australian Dangerous Goods Code and needs no special transport conditions, so it stores and ships with the rest of your stock.

Quick enough to hold the round together: It is a fast working cleaner, so a trolley keeps moving through an office floor instead of stalling on one bench waiting for a chemical to do something.

Usage Guidelines

Wipe Away is mixed with hot water before use, and the strength you choose depends on how heavy the soilage is in front of you.
Dilution:
Dilute 1 part Wipe Away with 5 to 20 parts hot water, depending on the level of soilage.
Application:
Spray the diluted solution onto the surface you want to clean.
Wiping:
Use a damp sponge or cloth to wipe off the soilage.
Rinsing:
Rinse the sponge or cloth regularly in clean water.
Heavily Soiled Areas:
For heavily soiled areas, allow the product to sit for a few moments before wiping.

FAQ

Q. Does Wipe Away kill germs or disinfect?

A. No. It is a detergent, so it cleans and lifts soil off hard surfaces rather than killing germs.

Q. Can I just use vinegar and dish soap on the walls instead?

A. Plenty of people do, and for a light finger mark it works fine. The difference shows on cooked on grease around a stove or on the wall panel behind it, because Wipe Away is a grease cutting detergent made for that soil rather than a general household mix.

Q. Do I still need gloves once it is diluted in a trigger bottle?

A. The protective equipment requirement sits with the concentrate, not the diluted mix. Once Wipe Away is diluted for spray bottle use, eye protection is not required under normal conditions and skin protection is not normally necessary, though gloves are still worth wearing if skin contact is likely.

Q. Will it leave a sticky film if I mix it too strong?

A. Yes, and getting the mix backwards is the most common way people ruin a result with a concentrate. Too much product and not enough water leaves a residue that dries on the surface and pulls dirt straight back onto it, so measure the mix into the bottle rather than eyeballing it.

Q. Will it strip or dull painted walls?

A. No, painted surfaces are one of the surfaces this detergent is made for, so a routine wipe down does not call for a specialty wall product. How old paint behaves is down to the paint and its condition rather than the chemical, so ask your painter about anything chalky or flaking.

Q. Do I still need a separate oven cleaner for burnt-on grease?

A. For the greasy film on a stove top and the panels around it, no. Carbon that has baked hard onto the inside of an oven is a different problem and generally calls for a dedicated oven product, so keep one on the trolley for that job.

Safety Information & Environmental Impact

Safety Information:

Personal protective equipment: Wear protective gloves and eye or face protection when handling the concentrate. Where there is regular exposure in a work setting, cover all skin areas with impervious gloves and overalls. No respirator is normally needed, and no special ventilation is required beyond keeping the work area clean and keeping vapours and mists down.

Handling and children: Keep the product out of reach of children, keep exposure to a minimum, and wash contacted areas thoroughly after handling.

First aid: On skin, wash gently and thoroughly with water for five minutes or until the chemical is removed, and get medical advice if irritation develops. In eyes, flush with lukewarm gently flowing water for five minutes while holding the eyelids open, take special care if contact lenses are being worn, and get medical advice immediately if irritation occurs. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting, wash the mouth out with water and give some water to drink.

Poisons Information Centre: Phone 13 1126 from anywhere in Australia. The line is available at all times.

Storage: Keep containers tightly closed, keep the quantity held in work areas small, and store the product away from oxidising agents.

Spills: Minor spills need no special cleanup measures. For a large spill, stop the leak where that can be done without risk, keep the spill out of drains and water courses, wear full protective clothing including eye and face protection, absorb it onto sand or vermiculite and collect it into labelled containers for disposal.

Environmental notes:
Wipe Away is harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects, so keep spills and concentrated product out of stormwater drains and water courses.

Used cleaning water: Used solutions of Wipe Away go into a drain or trough that runs to the sewer or to a septic tank, where the waste is treated and broken down. They never go into a stormwater drain or down a driveway, because those drains carry rainwater to the local river system.

Containers and disposal: Empty containers as completely as practical before disposal, and recycle the product and the container where that is possible. Dispose of in accordance with local council and regulatory requirements. Refer to Section 13 of the current SDS for disposal requirements.
