A washroom that gets hammered all day tells on you at the porcelain. Scale creeps up the back of the bowl, rust marks streak the stainless trough, and a thin cleaner runs straight past the vertical surfaces and into the drain before it has done anything at all. That soil is mineral, so scrubbing harder is the wrong answer: it needs an acid sitting on it long enough to break it down.

Agar Sequal is a thickened mild acid cleaner for toilets, urinals, tiled washroom floors and walls, baths, basins and shower recesses. The 5Lt bottle suits a cleaning team working a daily washroom round, and because regular cleaning runs at a dilution rather than neat, one bottle covers a lot of bowls. Eucalyptus fragrance is left behind on the surfaces afterwards.

How Sequal shifts scale and rust

The high viscosity is the whole point. Thickened product clings to steep surfaces instead of sliding off, which extends the exposure time and lets the mild acid dissolve deposits on porcelain, ceramic and stainless steel. Rust dissolves too, and stainless steel is not affected even during prolonged contact, so a stainless trough urinal can take the full five minute dwell.

Anywhere with porcelain bowls, stainless urinals and tiled washroom walls is in range, offices, schools and public amenities included. Where a green cleaning program is part of the contract, the GECA certification is the part that counts at tender time: the environmental credentials are externally audited by Good Environmental Choice Australia, the surfactants are highly biodegradable and there are no added phosphates. Not suitable for:

Toilets:

1. Pour 60ml of Sequal into the bowl.
2. Scrub with a nylon brush.
3. Flush the toilet after cleaning.

Urinals:

1. Apply Sequal neat to the surface and scrub.
2. Leave it for five minutes to activate.
3. Flush.

Regular toilet and urinal cleaning:

1. Dilute 1 part Sequal in 2 parts water.
2. Apply and scrub as above.
3. Flush.

Showers and baths, first clean:

1. Apply Sequal neat.
2. Brush the product over all surfaces, then leave it there for 2 minutes to activate.
3. Rinse off.

Showers and baths, regular cleaning:

1. Use Sequal at 1 in 5.
2. Brush over the surfaces.
3.Rinse off.

Safety and storage:

Danger: causes serious eye damage. Wear eye or face protection when using Sequal.
Keep out of reach of children.
If in eyes: rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do, and keep rinsing. Immediately call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 or a doctor.
Skin contact: wash gently and thoroughly with water for 5 minutes or until the chemical is removed. Wear suitable gloves where skin contact is likely.
If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Wash the mouth with water, give some water to drink, and contact the Poisons Information Centre or a doctor if symptoms develop.
Never mix Sequal with other chemicals, and never with bleach.
Keep containers tightly closed and keep the product away from bases, oxidising agents, zinc, tin, aluminium and their alloys.
Sequal does not burn and is not a Dangerous Good under the ADG Code.

Environmental and disposal notes:

Used solutions of Sequal go into a drain or trough leading to the sewer system or a septic tank, where they can be treated and broken down.
Used solutions do not go into stormwater drains or down driveways, because those drains carry rainwater to the local river system.
Unused product should be used up or passed on to someone who can use it, in its original labelled container. Where there is no alternative to disposal, modest quantities can go down the drain to sewer with running water, with the cold tap left running for a few moments afterwards.
Do not mix different cleaning products together during disposal.
The 5Lt bottle is HDPE or PET and can go into kerbside recycling. Cardboard cartons should be flattened and recycled.
