Description

Some tile floors still look dirty after a normal mop. On ceramic, porcelain and quarry tiles, soil settles into the tiny surface pores and into the grout lines, turning the floor a dull grey that everyday detergents cannot reach.

For the grey, ground-in soil ordinary mopping leaves behind

Once Off is a heavy-duty alkaline detergent that penetrates those pores and draws the trapped soil back out, so a neglected floor comes up clean instead of just wiped over. It is a concentrate, so you dilute it to match how heavy the soil is and mix only what the job needs.

Reaches soil ordinary detergents leave behind: Its alkaline action penetrates the surface pores of ceramic, porcelain and quarry tiles and draws out ground-in soil, rather than cleaning only the top of the tile.

One product for tiles, stone and pavers: It also works on concrete, bluestone, sandstone, terracotta and clay or concrete pavers, so a cleaning team can carry a single product across indoor tiles and outdoor paved areas.

A concentrate that stretches: You dilute it to suit the soil, so a heavy first clean and routine upkeep both come from the one bottle and it covers large floor areas before you reorder.

Low foaming for autoscrubbers: The low to medium foam suits autoscrubbers, single brush rotary machines, mopping and pressure washing, so it drops into a commercial floor routine.

Practically odourless on the job: It is practically odourless, so cleaning teams can work in shopping centres, washrooms and other occupied areas without leaving a chemical smell behind.

Where it can be used:

Once Off is made for ceramic, porcelain and quarry tiles, and it also cleans concrete, bluestone, sandstone, terracotta and clay or concrete pavers. It suits hard floors in shopping centres, toilets, shower rooms, kitchens, carparks and outdoor paved areas, and works through autoscrubbers, mops, single brush rotary machines and pressure washers.

Not suitable for: Keep it off marble, terrazzo, timber, carpet and floor polish, and off aluminium and brass. If it splashes onto any of these, wash it off straight away.

Usage Guidelines

Always dilute Once Off with water before it goes onto the floor, and match the strength to how heavy the soil is.

First deep clean or heavily soiled floors: dilute 1 in 10 with water.
Heavy-duty cleaning: dilute 1 in 60 with water.
Light or regular cleaning: dilute 1 in 120 with water.

How to apply: Pour the diluted solution liberally over the floor and scrub with a brush, autoscrubber, single brush rotary machine or pressure washer. On heavy soil, leave it to soak for about 10 minutes before scrubbing so it can dissolve the dirt, then pick up the dirty solution.

Speeding up a heavy clean: Dilute 1 in 20, spread it over the floor and leave it at least 10 minutes to dissolve the dirt, then scrub and pick up the solution.

Autoscrubber tip: Lay down plenty of diluted solution so the soil has time to dissolve and the squeegee and vacuum can collect it cleanly.

Finish: Once the dirty solution is picked up, rinse the floor with clean water so the surface is left clean and free of cleaning residue.

Do not mix: Do not mix Once Off with other chemicals unless the label or SDS states it can be done. Keep it away from acids in particular.

FAQ

Q. Why do my ceramic or porcelain tiles still look grey after mopping?

A. Soil works into the tiny pores of ceramic, porcelain and quarry tiles and into the grout, so ordinary mopping lifts the surface film but leaves the embedded dirt behind. Once Off penetrates those pores and draws the trapped soil out, which is why greyed floors come back when a general detergent cannot shift them.

Q. Isn't white vinegar enough to bring dull tiles back?

A. White vinegar is acidic, so it cuts mineral haze, soap scum and limescale, and it is fine when that light film is the only problem. Ground-in traffic soil sitting in porous tiles and grout is a different job that needs an alkaline cleaner like Once Off, so reach for one or the other rather than both together.

Q. Why does my grout keep going dark even after I clean the floor?

A. Grout is more porous than the tile, so once its sealer wears away it soaks dirt and moisture straight back up and darkens again within days. A deep clean helps, but if water soaks in instead of beading on the grout, the lasting fix is to have it resealed by a tiler.

Q. Why does the floor look dull again a few days after I clean it?

A. A dull film usually comes from leftover cleaner residue or from dirty mop water spread back across the floor, and both attract more dirt. Avoid overdosing, work with clean water, and if you use Once Off every day, run water only once a week so alkaline residue does not build up.

Q. Is this just a stronger version of a supermarket tile spray?

A. No. Supermarket sprays are ready to use for light, regular cleaning, while Once Off is a heavy-duty alkaline concentrate for embedded, ground-in soil that lighter products leave behind. That is why you dilute it to suit the job instead of spraying it straight onto the floor.

Q. Is the floor slippery while I am cleaning with it?

A. It can be slippery on smooth tiles while the diluted solution is down, so treat the area as a wet-floor hazard. Rope it off or work in sections, keep foot traffic away until the floor is picked up and dry, and take extra care on smooth surfaces.

Hazard: Once Off is a corrosive alkaline concentrate. Signal word Danger. It causes severe skin burns and eye damage. It is classified as a Class 8 corrosive and a Scheduled Poison.

Protective equipment: Wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and eye or face protection, using splash-resistant goggles and keeping all skin covered when handling the undiluted concentrate. Work in a well-ventilated area, do not breathe mists, and wash your hands and any contacted skin thoroughly after handling. Keep out of reach of children.

First aid: For eye or skin contact, flush immediately with gently flowing water for at least 60 minutes, holding the eyelids open for eye contact, and get urgent medical attention without interrupting the flushing. If swallowed, rinse the mouth, do not induce vomiting, and contact the Poisons Information Centre. If inhaled, move the person to fresh air.

Storage: Store the container closed and upright in a cool, well-ventilated area, locked up and away from acids and from zinc, tin, aluminium and their alloys. Check containers for corrosion and leaks.

Spills: Contain the spill and keep it out of drains and waterways. Wear full chemical-resistant protection, absorb with sand or vermiculite, collect into a labelled container, and wash the area while preventing runoff from entering drains.

Emergency contact: Poisons Information Centre 13 1126, from anywhere in Australia, at any time.

Environmental notes: Once Off is biodegradable, non-flammable and chlorine-free, and contains no VOCs or solvents. Until it is diluted or neutralised, the undiluted concentrate will harm aquatic life because of its high alkalinity, so keep it out of stormwater drains and waterways.

Disposal: Pour used, diluted solution into a drain that leads to the sewer or a septic system, never into stormwater drains or driveways. Do not mix products together when disposing of them. Empty HDPE or PET containers can be recycled through kerbside collection
