Agar Graffiti Remover Solvent Cleaner 1Lt

Fresh graffiti on metal, concrete, brick and fibreglass is a job that pays to tackle quickly, because the longer aerosol paint and marker ink sit on a surface the harder they set into it. Agar Graffiti Remover is a solvent-based cleaner that dissolves spray paint and pen ink so the tag lifts off the surface instead of smearing across it.

The remover is water-emulsifiable, so once it has broken the graffiti down you wash the residue away with plain water rather than chasing it with more product. It is a low odour liquid, which means there is no heavy chemical smell left hanging around the site once the work is finished.

What it lifts, and where it works

It is made for bare hard surfaces and comes ready to use straight from the drum, with no mixing to measure or get wrong. The current Product Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet are provided on this page so you can check the detail before you buy.

Breaks the graffiti down instead of smearing it: the solvent action dissolves aerosol paint and ink so it releases from the surface and wipes or rinses away cleanly.

Low odour, so nothing lingers: the low odour liquid does not leave a strong chemical smell on the surface or across the area once the graffiti is gone.

Washes off with water, no second product needed: because it is water-emulsifiable, the broken-down graffiti rinses away with plain water, so a crew is not carrying a separate rinse chemical.

One product for a mixed graffiti round: the same drum handles the range of bare hard surfaces a crew meets on a round, instead of a different remover for each callout.

Ready to use, so the strength is consistent: it goes on undiluted, which means no ratios to measure and the same result every time.

Where you can use it:

• Metal surfaces such as doors, roller shutters and signage.
• Concrete, brick and masonry, including walls and pathways.
• Fibreglass panels and fixtures.
• Tiles and glass.
• Carpet, after testing a hidden area first.

It is not for painted surfaces, because it strips paint as readily as it strips the graffiti. For tagging on a painted wall, use a remover made for painted surfaces, such as Agar DLX or Graffiti Wipe-Off instead.

Graffiti is easiest to remove while it is fresh, so work the tag as soon as you can. Test the remover on a small hidden area first, especially on soft vinyl, plastic or any surface you are unsure about.

On metal, fibreglass, tiles and glass:

Brush the remover directly onto the graffiti.
Scrub for about a minute with a brush to help it penetrate.
Leave it to work for about five minutes, keeping the area wet with product.
Scrub the graffiti with a brush or a nylon scourer.
Wipe it off with a rag, or rinse it off with a hose.
If any graffiti is left, repeat the steps above.
On concrete or brick:

Use a stiff nylon or wire brush and work the remover in the same way.
Brush over all treated areas, then rinse with clean water.
To finish: rinse and wipe over all treated areas with clean water. The surface is left clean, with no strong solvent smell.

Do not mix: do not mix Agar Graffiti Remover with other chemicals unless the label or Safety Data Sheet states it can be done. Store it in its original labelled container, and never in a food or drink container.

Signal word: Danger. Agar Graffiti Remover is harmful if swallowed, causes skin irritation and causes serious eye damage. Treat it as a workplace chemical and gear up before you start.

Protective equipment: wear solvent-resistant gloves such as nitrile or neoprene, and eye protection such as safety glasses or goggles. Use it only in a well-ventilated area, and run a fan if natural airflow is not enough.

While using it: do not eat, drink or smoke, and wash any contacted skin thoroughly afterwards. Keep it out of reach of children.

First aid:

Skin: wash gently and thoroughly with water for at least five minutes. If irritation occurs, get medical advice.
Eyes: rinse cautiously with water for 15 minutes, remove contact lenses if easy to do, keep rinsing, and get medical attention immediately.
Swallowed: do not induce vomiting, rinse the mouth, and call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 or a doctor.
Inhaled: move to fresh air. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.
Storage: keep the container tightly closed, dry and out of direct sunlight, and store it between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep it away from water and from acids, bases and amines. The product is stable for 12 months.

Classification: it is classified as a hazardous chemical and is a Scheduled Poison (SUSMP S6), though it is not classified as a Dangerous Good for transport. Observe the regulations that apply to storing and handling this schedule of poison.

Spills: absorb a spill onto sand, vermiculite or another suitable absorbent, collect it into a labelled container, and keep it out of drains and waterways.

Disposal: do not pour the product or rinse water into stormwater drains. Small amounts can go to sewer with plenty of running water, to a drain that leads to the sewer or a septic system.
