Description

Polished floors, tiles and other sensitive hard surfaces take a beating in commercial and industrial sites, picking up grease, traffic marks and everyday spills that dull their look. A cleaner that is too harsh for daily use can be as much of a problem as the dirt, marking a delicate finish over time. Agar Freshmop is a mildly alkaline floor detergent concentrate made for that daily work, cleaning polished floors and sensitive surfaces without aggressive chemistry.

How Freshmop cleans a polished floor

Being mildly alkaline rather than caustic, Freshmop lifts fats, oils, road and traffic soil and general spills into the mop water and carries them clear of the floor. The mild action does the cleaning without the heavy chemistry that sensitive and polished finishes do not tolerate well. Cleaners get a floor that comes up clean underfoot on a daily round.

This makes Freshmop a practical daily detergent for cleaning teams looking after polished and sensitive floors across a site. Where the priority is a clean floor and a finish worth protecting, a mild detergent suits the surface better than a strong one.

  • Mild on sensitive and polished floors: Freshmop is mildly alkaline rather than caustic, so it cleans delicate finishes that a strong cleaner could mark.
  • Leaves no film on polished surfaces: soils lift into the mop water and clear away, so floors are left clean with nothing to dull the finish.
  • Goes a long way per bottle: a concentrate that dilutes a long way for daily mopping, so one 5Lt bottle makes many buckets before you reorder.
  • Fresh lemon scent as you work: a lemon fragrance is built into the concentrate, so the area is left smelling clean once the floor is done.
  • One detergent for the floor round: it covers the washable hard surfaces on a typical site, so cleaning teams can carry fewer products.

Where you can use Freshmop:

It suits a range of washable hard surfaces where a mild detergent is the right call.

  • Polished floors
  • Tiles, on floors and walls
  • Terrazzo, marble and slate
  • Walls, windows and paintwork
  • Other hard surfaces that water will not harm

Because Freshmop is water based, keep it off anything that water alone can damage.

Usage Guidelines

Freshmop is a concentrate, so dilute it with water before use. For general floor cleaning, mix 1 part Freshmop to between 50 and 120 parts water, using more product on heavier soil and less for light daily maintenance.

As a rough guide at the bucket, that is about a third of a cup of Freshmop per wringer bucket for light soil, up to three quarters of a cup for a dirtier floor.

Freshmop works in both hot and cold water, so make up the bucket with whatever water the site has. It needs no separate rinse: mop it over the floor and let the surface dry.

Do not mix Freshmop with other chemicals.

FAQ

Q. Is Freshmop strong enough for heavy grease and ground-in dirt?

A. Yes for everyday floors: it lifts fats, oils, road and traffic soil and general spills, and you can mix it stronger for a dirtier floor. For stripping old polish or shifting heavy baked-on grease, reach for a dedicated stripper or degreaser instead, as Freshmop is a maintenance detergent rather than a heavy-duty one.

Q. Why do my floors still look filmy or streaky after I mop?

A. Usually it is too much product or dirty mop water rather than the detergent itself, since an overloaded bucket leaves a film and grey water just spreads soil around. Keep to the correct dilution, change the water once it turns dirty, and Freshmop dries without a residual film.

Q. Do I need to rinse the floor after mopping with Freshmop?

A. No. Freshmop needs no rinsing, so you mop it over the floor and let it dry with no second water pass. That saves a step across large floor areas and is part of why it suits daily commercial cleaning.

Q. Does Freshmop remove odours or just leave a fresh scent?

A. It leaves a fresh lemon scent as you clean, which lifts the smell of a room while you mop. It is a detergent rather than an odour treatment, so a persistent source like a smelly drain or urine build-up needs the right specialist product, not fragrance.

Q. Can I just use laundry detergent in the mop bucket instead?

A. Laundry detergent will lift dirt, but it is built for washing machines, not mopping, so on polished floors it can leave a dulling film unless you rinse well afterwards. Freshmop is made to mop out clean without that film. A very light, well-rinsed mix is fine in a pinch.

Q. If it is not the cleaner, what is dulling my polished floor over time?

A. Most dulling comes from grit walked in over time, over-wet mopping, or a sealer that is simply wearing thin, not from a mild detergent. Sweep or dust-mop before you wash, wring the mop out well, and when the finish looks tired have it re-sealed or re-polished by a floor contractor.

Safety Information & Environmental Impact

Download SDS

The undiluted Freshmop concentrate is classified as hazardous, with the signal word DANGER. It causes skin irritation and causes serious eye damage.

Protection: wear protective gloves and eye or face protection when handling the concentrate, wash contacted skin thoroughly after handling, and keep the product out of reach of children.

First aid: for skin contact, wash gently and thoroughly with water. For eye contact, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if easy to do, keep rinsing, and get medical advice or call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 1126. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting, rinse the mouth, drink some water, and seek medical advice if you feel unwell.

Storage: keep containers tightly closed.

The concentrate is hazardous, but once Freshmop is diluted to 1 in 9.1 or more with water it is no longer classed as hazardous, so a bucket at mopping strength is well past that point.

Environmental and disposal: Freshmop is phosphate free and biodegradable, based on regrowable raw materials. Even so, the concentrate is toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects, so keep both concentrate and used water out of stormwater drains.

Pour used mopping water to sewer, into a drain or trough that leads to the sewer or a septic system, and never to stormwater. Empty HDPE and PET containers can be recycled through kerbside collection.
