Description

A carpet that looks dirty again two weeks after a steam clean was usually cleaned with the wrong detergent. High foaming products leave a sticky film in the pile that grabs fresh soil, and harsh alkaline cleaners take that risk out on wool fibres instead. Agar Exit is a concentrated liquid detergent for the tank of hot water extraction machines, made for single-pass carpet cleaning on commercial and household carpets, including 100% wool.

One pass through the carpet, nothing sticky left behind

Fast-reacting agents in the mix emulsify oil, grease and embedded traffic soil as the wand passes, so the machine lifts the soil out in the same stroke that laid the detergent down. Solutions of Exit are free rinsing: no oily residue stays in the pile to attract dirt and start the resoiling cycle early. The formula is also low foaming, which keeps suds out of the recovery tank through a full job.

Controlled pH is what makes it a wool detergent as well as a synthetic one. At 9.5 undiluted it works without the aggressive alkalinity that flattens or discolours natural fibre, and it conforms to Australian Standard AS3733 for cleaning domestic and commercial carpeting. Cleaned pile comes up brighter in colour and softer in hand, and the rose perfume dispels the wet carpet odour while everything dries.

For contractors, one drum covers the day's variety: mix light at 1:120 for maintenance cleans, step up to 1:40 for grubby traffic lanes, and pre-spot the worst patches at 1:10 before the main pass. At the light rate a 5Lt bottle mixes 600 litres of tank mix, so the concentrate outlasts a long run of maintenance jobs. Current SDS and PDS documents back every claim on this page.

Key Futures:

Cleans in a single pass: fast-reacting agents emulsify oil, grease and traffic soil as the wand moves, so soil comes out in one stroke instead of repeat passes. Big areas take less labour time.

Cleans 100% wool without harsh alkalinity: the pH-controlled formula suits wool and delicate carpets at the listed dilutions, so one detergent covers wool jobs and synthetic jobs alike.

Carpets stay clean for longer: free-rinsing chemistry leaves no oily residue in the pile, which is the residue that grabs fresh dirt and brings stains back within weeks.

Foam stays out of the recovery tank: low-foaming ingredients keep suds down in the waste tank, so suction holds up through the whole job.

Doubles as a pre-spotter: mixed at 1:10 it pre-treats stains and heavy traffic lanes before the main clean. Check colourfastness on a hidden patch first.

Where it can be used:

  • Carpets cleaned with hot water extraction (steam cleaning) machines
  • 100% wool carpets at the listed dilutions
  • Domestic and commercial carpeting
  • Stained or heavily trafficked patches, pre-spotted at 1:10 before the main clean

Usage Guidelines

Dilution rates: 1 part Exit to 120 parts water for light soil, 1 to 80 for medium soil, 1 to 40 for heavy soil. Pre-spot stains at 1 part to 10.

1. Preparation: Before using Agar Exit, thoroughly vacuum the carpet to remove loose dirt and debris.
2. Move furniture off the area, or place foil under the legs of anything that stays.
3. Pre-spot stained and heavily soiled patches with Exit at 1 part to 10 parts water. Check colourfastness on an inconspicuous area first.
4. Add Exit to the solution tank of the hot water extraction machine at the rate that matches the soil level.
5. Apply the diluted detergent through the machine and extract in the same pass. Avoid overwetting the carpet.
6. Let the carpet dry as quickly as possible, with ventilation where you can provide it, before furniture and foot traffic return.

FAQ

Q. Will steam cleaning with this damage my wool carpet?

A. No, when it is used at the listed dilutions. Exit is pH controlled for wool, so it cleans 100% wool carpet without the harsh alkalinity that flattens or discolours the fibre. The real wool risks sit with the machine work: overwetting and slow drying. Keep the carpet as dry as practical and ventilate the room.

Q. How much goes in the tank of my extraction machine?

A. Mix 1 part Exit to 120 parts water for lightly soiled carpet, 1 to 80 for medium soil and 1 to 40 for heavy soil. Vacuum first, then apply and extract in one pass. For stained patches, pre-spot at 1 in 10 after checking colourfastness in a hidden spot.

Q. Why do stains come back a few days after steam cleaning?

A. Usually one of two causes: sticky detergent residue attracting fresh dirt, or a deep spill wicking back up the pile as the carpet dries. Exit is free rinsing and leaves no oily residue, which removes the first cause. Wicking comes from the spill itself, so extract thoroughly and dry the carpet fast.

Q. Can I just use laundry detergent or dish soap in my carpet machine?

A. Extraction machines need a low foaming, free rinsing detergent, and household soaps are neither. They foam up in the recovery tank and leave a soapy film in the pile that resoils quickly. Exit is matched to the machine: low foam in the tank, nothing sticky left in the carpet.

Q. Will my carpet smell damp or musty after cleaning?

A. Only if it stays wet too long: the musty smell is trapped moisture, not the detergent. Exit carries a rose perfume that dispels the wet carpet odour while the pile dries. Avoid overwetting, ventilate the room and let the carpet dry fully before furniture and foot traffic come back.

Q. Can I use it as a pre spray on bad stains before the main clean?

A. Yes, at 1 part Exit to 10 parts water on stains and heavy traffic lanes before the full extraction clean. Check colourfastness on a hidden area first, apply to the marked patches, then clean and extract the whole carpet as normal.
