Description

In busy, public-facing places, a sink is not always close when hands need attention. Agar Cool Tide is a waterless hand sanitiser gel built around 73% v/v ethyl alcohol, ready to use straight from the drum so people can freshen their hands on the spot, away from a basin.

It goes on without water and needs no plumbing, which makes it a straightforward way to keep hands clean where people come and go all day and a basin is not always a few steps away.

Effective Germ Protection Without Water

Front-of-house staff, teachers, carers and cleaners touch shared surfaces constantly and cannot stop to find a sink each time. A drum kept at the point of work gives them a quick way to freshen their hands and carry on, which is where a waterless gel earns its place alongside soap and water.

Stays where you put it: the thick gel sits on the palm instead of running off, so a small dose spreads across both hands with little waste.

Dries without towels or rinsing: it dries on the skin in moments with nothing to wipe away, so there is no bin of paper towels to manage at each point and staff get moving again quickly.

One drum refills the whole floor: the 5Lt size tops up the bench and doorway pumps across a site, which brings the cost per use down and cuts the number of small bottles to reorder through the week.

Colourless and low-foaming: it will not tint hands, cuffs or benchtops, and the low foam works cleanly through pump nozzles and dispensers.

Where you can use it:

  • On hands only, as a waterless option at the point of use
  • Schools, childcare centres, offices, reception and staff areas
  • Public-facing venues and amenities, around phones, public transport, lifts, escalators and ATMs
  • Before eating or drinking, and before or after handling raw fish, poultry or eggs
  • After the toilet, changing nappies, shaking hands, coughing or sneezing

Not suitable for: internal use, since Cool Tide is for external use on hands only; or visibly dirty or greasy hands, which need soap and water first.

Usage Guidelines

Cool Tide is ready to use straight from the drum, with no dilution.

1. Start with dry hands. If they are visibly dirty or greasy, wash them with soap and water first.
2. Put about half a teaspoon of Cool Tide into one palm.
3. Rub it over both hands, working it between the fingers and around the nails until the gel is spread and your hands are dry.
4. Do not rinse and do not wipe the gel off. Let it finish drying on the skin.

No water is needed at any stage of use.

Supervise children while they use it.

FAQ

Q. Can I use Cool Tide instead of washing my hands?

A. Not as a full substitute. A thorough wash with soap and water still does more, so treat Cool Tide as a stand-in for the times a sink is not handy rather than a replacement for washing. Used that way, it keeps hand hygiene ticking over between washes.

Q. Why can Cool Tide only be shipped within Victoria?

A. Because it is a flammable liquid. The 73% ethyl alcohol makes it a Class 3 dangerous good for transport, which rules out standard courier freight interstate, so it is sold for delivery within Victoria or for pickup.

Q. Will Cool Tide dry out staff hands with all-day use?

A. It is gentler on the skin than plain alcohol rubs. Glycerine and wheatgerm oil condition the hands as the gel dries, so they stay soft through repeated use, though a separate hand moisturiser is still worth keeping nearby for very frequent users.

Q. Does Cool Tide expire, and how long will a drum last?

A. In the sealed drum it stays stable for 12 months, so buying the 5Lt size for a site will not leave you with product that goes off before you work through it. That gives bulk buyers room to stock up for a whole term or quarter.

Q. Is it worth just making my own hand sanitiser?

A. You can mix isopropyl alcohol with aloe vera gel, but the tricky part is getting a consistent strength, since home recipes often end up weaker than intended once the aloe goes in and spirits like vodka are too weak to use. Cool Tide arrives premixed at a steady 73% v/v, ready to go with no measuring.

Flammable liquid: Cool Tide is a flammable liquid and vapour. Keep it away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources, and do not smoke while using it. Do not use it near naked flames.

Causes serious eye irritation: if the product gets in the eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if they are present and easy to take out, and keep rinsing. If eye irritation continues, get medical advice.

Skin contact: wash contacted areas after handling. Skin irritation is unlikely, but if it happens, flush the skin with lukewarm running water until the product is removed.

If swallowed: do not induce vomiting. Rinse the mouth and drink a little water. If symptoms develop or you are in doubt, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 1126 or a doctor.

Personal protection: wear eye protection when decanting or handling the product in bulk. Eye protection is not needed when dispensing from a pump pack, and skin protection is not required under normal use.

Storage: keep out of reach of children and keep the container tightly closed. Store in a cool, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight, between 10 and 30 degrees C. Keep it away from oxidising agents.
