Description

In a commercial kitchen, cleaning a surface and sanitising it are two separate jobs. A detergent lifts grease and food soil, yet a bench that looks clean can still need sanitising before it is back in use for food.

Agar Citrastar is a citrus-extract sanitiser for hard surfaces in kitchens and food-preparation areas. Used neat from the 5Lt bottle, it is ready to use rather than a concentrate you dilute.

A sanitiser with one job on an already clean surface

Derived from citrus extracts, Citrastar is a dedicated sanitiser rather than a general cleaner, so it works on surfaces your team has already cleaned. That keeps it clear of the detergent step and gives staff a defined second stage in the routine most food businesses are expected to run.

Across bench tops, sinks, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, cutting tools and cool-room floors, Citrastar gives a kitchen one sanitiser for its hard surfaces, warm prep areas and cold storage alike.

A current Product Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet are available, so you can confirm suitability and handling for your site before you buy.

Key features and benefits

Fits the clean-then-sanitise routine: Citrastar is a dedicated sanitiser used after your detergent step, not instead of it, so it slots into the two-stage process food businesses are expected to follow.

Made for food-contact surfaces: Use it on the benches, boards, utensils and equipment that touch food, a job a general-purpose kitchen cleaner is not built for.

One sanitiser across the kitchen: It suits bench tops, sinks, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, cutting tools and utensils, so cleaning teams are not juggling a separate product for every area.

No dilution to get wrong: Because it is used neat, there is no ratio to measure and no dosing gear to maintain, so every staff member applies it the same way each time.

5Lt pack for commercial rounds: The 5Lt bottle is a practical bulk size for commercial kitchens and cleaning teams, ready to refill spray bottles for daily bench and equipment sanitising.

Where it can be used

Usage Guidelines

Use Agar Citrastar neat, exactly as supplied. Do not add water.

Before you start: Wash the surface with a detergent first to remove grease and food residue. A sanitiser will not work on a surface that is still soiled.

1. Spray, wipe or dip neat Citrastar onto the cleaned surface.
2. Leave it in contact with the surface for at least 5 minutes.
3. Rinse food-contact surfaces with potable water and allow them to drain.
4. Non-food-contact surfaces can be left to drain without rinsing.
Do not mix Citrastar with other chemicals unless the label or SDS states it can be done. Citrastar is not for use directly on food.

FAQ

Q. Do I need to clean the surface before using Citrastar, or does it clean too?

A. Clean first, then sanitise. Citrastar is a sanitiser rather than a cleaner, so wash off grease and food residue with a detergent before you use it, because a sanitiser will not work on a soiled surface. Then apply Citrastar to the clean surface.

Q. Do I have to rinse Citrastar off afterwards?

A. On food-contact surfaces, yes: rinse with potable water and let them drain before food touches them again. Non-food-contact surfaces can be left to drain without rinsing. Many kitchens prefer a no-rinse sanitiser, so build the rinse step into your routine.

Q. Is a citrus-based sanitiser strong enough for a commercial kitchen?

A. Treat it as a purpose-made commercial sanitiser, not a home lemon remedy. Used properly, on a cleaned surface and left for the full contact time, it does the job of a hard-surface sanitiser. Skipping the contact time is the usual reason any sanitiser underperforms.

Q. Can I just use diluted bleach to sanitise my benches instead?

A. Plain unscented bleach, correctly diluted, is a legitimate food-surface sanitiser and works in around 30 seconds, so it is a fair budget option. The trade-offs are the fumes, the risk of pitting stainless at strong concentrations, and having to mix it fresh. Citrastar is citrus-based and used neat.

Q. Can I spray Citrastar straight onto food?

A. No. Citrastar is for surfaces and equipment, not for use directly on food. Sanitise the bench, board or utensil, rinse food-contact surfaces, then let them dry before food touches them again.

Q. Can I mix Citrastar with detergent to clean and sanitise in one step?

A. No, do not mix Citrastar with detergent or any other chemical. Clean with your detergent first, then apply Citrastar on its own as a separate step. Combining chemicals can cancel out the sanitiser, so keep the two stages apart.
