Description

A commercial carpet cannot come out of service for a day while it dries. Offices, foyers and corridors need to reopen fast, and a soaked carpet keeps the whole area closed. Interim maintenance with a rotary bonnet lifts the traffic marks without the downtime.

Agar Bonnet Cleaner is a liquid carpet detergent for exactly that job: maintenance cleaning of commercial carpets by the rotary bonnet method. The 5Lt concentrate mixes into hot water and goes on through a damp bonnet pad, not a flood of solution, so the carpet stays close to dry the whole time.

How Bonnet Cleaner cleans without soaking the carpet

The fast reacting formulation releases soil quickly from the carpet fibres, and the rotating bonnet pad absorbs it as you work. Very little moisture ever enters the pile, so the carpet dries quickly and the area reopens the same session. Free rinsing chemistry leaves minimal residue behind on the fibres once the clean is finished.

Bonnet cleaning suits lightly to moderately soiled carpet and keeps its appearance up between deep cleans. Heavily soiled areas are a job for hot water extraction, not the bonnet. Used on the right carpet at the right dilution, this is the quickest way to keep commercial carpet presentable without closing the room.

Key benefits:

Carpets back in service fast: very little moisture goes into the pile, so cleaned commercial carpet is usually walkable again within an hour.

Soil lifts into the bonnet pad: the fast reacting formulation releases soil from the fibres quickly, so the spinning pad absorbs it as you go instead of leaving it in the carpet.

No sticky film after cleaning: free rinsing chemistry leaves minimal residue on the carpet once the job is done.

One bottle covers a full maintenance program: diluted at 1 part to 8 parts hot water, the 5Lt pack makes 45 litres of working solution.

One detergent for every carpeted area: suitable for all carpet types cleaned by the rotary bonnet method, so cleaning teams carry one product for the whole site.

Where it can be used:

  • All carpet types cleaned by the rotary bonnet method.
  • Lightly to moderately soiled commercial carpet on a maintenance schedule.
  • Not heavily soiled carpet: those areas need hot water extraction to remove the soil completely.
  • Take care on some cut-pile and coarse loop-pile carpets, where rotary agitation can distort the pile.

Usage Guidelines

1. Vacuum the carpet first to remove loose dry soil.
2. Dilute 1 part Bonnet Cleaner to 8 parts hot water.
3. Pre-test the solution on an inconspicuous corner to make sure the carpet is colour fast.
4. Apply one of three ways: pre-spray a clean dry bonnet with the solution, pre-spray the carpet one 6m x 6m area at a time, or soak the bonnet and squeeze out the excess so it is damp, never dripping. A dripping bonnet over-wets the carpet and splashes the skirting boards.
5. Fit the bonnet to a slow speed rotary machine (150 to 300rpm) and scrub side to side in blocks of about 2 square metres. Keep the bonnet damp and do not over-wet the carpet.
6. Rinse or replace the bonnet as it soils, and clean edges and around furniture by hand.
7. Rake the pile when finished and let the carpet dry before reopening the area. Do not place furniture on wet carpet, as it can stain.
8. Wash and air dry the bonnets after use. Never buff with a dry bonnet, and avoid heeling the machine on the carpet.

FAQ

Q. Will bonnet cleaning damage my carpet?

A. Not when it is done damp and gently: keep the bonnet damp rather than wet, never buff with a dry bonnet, and avoid heeling the machine. Rotary agitation can distort the pile on some cut-pile and coarse loop-pile carpets, so pre-test a small area and check your carpet maker's care guide first.

Q. How soon can people walk on the carpet after cleaning?

A. Usually within an hour. Bonnet cleaning puts very little moisture into the pile, so commercial carpet returns to service far sooner than after wet extraction. Keep furniture off until the carpet is fully dry, because contact with wet carpet can stain.

Q. Why does carpet look dirty again so soon after cleaning?

A. Leftover detergent residue is the usual cause, because it holds onto new soil. Bonnet Cleaner is free rinsing, so minimal residue stays in the fibres after the clean. Stick to the 1 part to 8 parts hot water dilution rather than mixing it stronger.

Q. Can Bonnet Cleaner fix a heavily soiled carpet?

A. No. Bonnet cleaning suits lightly to moderately soiled carpet, and heavily soiled areas need hot water extraction to remove the soil completely. Use Bonnet Cleaner for scheduled upkeep between those deep cleans, not as a substitute for them.

Q. Will it fade or run the colour in my carpet?

A. Check first: apply the diluted solution to an inconspicuous corner and make sure the carpet is colour fast before cleaning the whole area. If colour transfers in the test spot, stop and get advice on that carpet before going further.

Q. Can I just use carpet shampoo in the bonnet machine instead?

A. Bonnet work needs a detergent that releases soil fast, so the spinning pad absorbs it, then leaves minimal residue and dries quickly. That is what Bonnet Cleaner does. A shampoo made for extraction or dry foam suits a different method, and its own directions will say which one.
