Description

Whitening and surface sanitising from one bleach

Greying laundry, mould creeping into shower grout and food prep benches that need sanitising all call for the same thing: chlorine bleach mixed to the right strength. Agar Bleach is a sodium hypochlorite concentrate carrying 5% available chlorine, so a single 5Lt bottle covers laundry whitening and hard surface work across a commercial site.

The available chlorine breaks down stains, body oils and organic soiling, which is what lifts greying out of white fabrics and clears mould and mildew off tiles and grout. Because it is a concentrate, you mix it down to suit the job, roughly 1 in 20 for mould on bathroom surfaces and a stronger mix for heavy tasks, so the bottle stretches a long way.

Kitchens and food businesses can use it to sanitise food preparation and processing areas once surfaces are pre-cleaned and rinsed where required, which makes it a straightforward pick where hygiene gets checked. Current SDS and PDS are on hand, so cleaning teams have the dilution and safety detail before they start.

What one bottle handles:

One bottle for laundry and hard surfaces: The same 5% available chlorine whitens greyed fabrics and sanitises tiles, grout and benches, so one product covers jobs that would otherwise need two.

Dilutes to suit the job: As a concentrate it mixes down, about 1 in 20 (50ml per litre) for mould on tiles and grout, so a 5Lt bottle covers weeks of regular cleaning.

Suitable for food preparation areas: Once surfaces are pre-cleaned and rinsed where required, it sanitises food processing and preparation areas, which suits commercial kitchens and food businesses. AQIS approved for food processing environments.

Lifts mould and mildew from bathroom surfaces: The chlorine clears mould and mildew staining off tiles, grouting, basins and shower recesses, then rinses away thoroughly.

Commercial 5Lt pack: The 5 litre size gives cleaning teams enough concentrate for repeat use across a site without constant reordering.

Where you can use it:

  • Laundry whitening and stain removal on bleach-safe washable fabrics
  • Food preparation and processing areas, after pre-cleaning
  • Bathroom tiles, grouting, baths, basins and shower recesses
  • Toilets and general washroom sanitation
  • Hard surfaces affected by mould and mildew

Usage Guidelines

Mix and use in a ventilated area, and never combine it with other chemicals. Dilute to suit the job below.

Mould and mildew on tiles, grout, baths, basins and showers:

1. Mix 1 in 20, which is 50ml of bleach per litre of water.
2. Apply to the surface and scrub if needed.
3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Sanitising food preparation areas:

1. Pre-clean the surface first.
2. Apply the bleach solution to sanitise.
3.Rinse where required.

Toilet cleaning:

1. Add 60ml, about a quarter cup, to the bowl.
2.Brush all surfaces, then leave for 5 minutes.
3. Flush.

Laundry whitening:

1. Follow the dilution on the product label.
2. Keep bleach off clothing while you handle it, as it damages fabric, especially cotton.

Blood spill clean up:

1. Wear gloves, safety glasses and a plastic apron.
2. Absorb the spill with paper towel and seal it in a bag.
3. Clean the area with warm water and detergent.
4. Apply a 1 in 3 solution, which is 100ml of bleach to 200ml of water, and leave for 10 minutes.
5. Wipe and dry, then flush the used solution down the sink with plenty of running water.

FAQ

Q. Why does my bathroom still smell after I have bleached it?

A. A lingering chlorine smell means the bleach is off gassing, so ventilate the room and rinse the surfaces down after cleaning. If a washroom still smells of urine after bleaching, the source is usually soaked grout or a failing toilet seal rather than the surface you cleaned, and that needs regrouting or a plumber.

Q. Will Agar Bleach ruin coloured or delicate clothes?

A. Yes, chlorine bleach strips colour and can weaken fibres, so use it only on bleach-safe whites and keep it off coloured, wool, silk or elastane items. Test a hidden patch first, follow the dilution on the label, and rinse well. Splashes during cleaning cause the same permanent damage.

Q. Does bleach damage tiles and grout?

A. Diluted correctly and rinsed off, it is fine for occasional cleaning, but strong or repeated use can dry out grout and fade its colour over time. Use around 1 in 20 for mould, keep the contact time short, scrub gently and rinse thoroughly. For sealed stone, check with the stone supplier first.

Q. Will the mould come back after I bleach it?

A. Bleach clears surface mould and staining, but on porous grout or silicone the mould can return if the area stays damp. Clear the visible growth and rinse, then fix the moisture: run the exhaust fan, improve ventilation and reseal cracked grout or silicone so spores have nowhere to hold.

Q. Can I mix bleach with vinegar or another cleaner to make it stronger?

A. No. Never mix bleach with acids like vinegar, with ammonia or with any other cleaner, because the reaction releases toxic chlorine gas. Bleach works on its own once diluted with water, so use it alone in a ventilated area and rinse before applying anything else to the surface.

Q. Is commercial bleach any different from supermarket bleach?

A. It is the same active, sodium hypochlorite, but this one is a 5% available chlorine concentrate in a 5Lt pack, so you dilute it to the strength each job needs instead of buying it pre-mixed. For teams cleaning daily, that stretches further and costs less per use than household bottles.

Safety Information:

Caution!
NEVER MIX BLEACH WITH ANY OTHER CHEMICALS, especially acids, as this may produce toxic chlorine gas or other poisons.

- Handling: Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling bleach.
- Storage: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
- First Aid: In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If ingested, seek medical advice immediately.

Environmental Impact:
- Proper Disposal: Do not pour large quantities of bleach into the environment. Use water to dilute bleach solutions before disposal.
- Biodegradability: Sodium hypochlorite breaks down into salt and water over time, reducing its environmental impact when used and disposed of properly.
